Religious Youth Service (RYS) is a project of Universal Peace Federation (UPF).
Since 1986, RYS has been organizing projects globally, choosing young volunteers who represent a variety of religions, ethnicities, and languages. Taking bold steps over the years to strengthen the peace process in many countries in the world, RYS has been at the forefront of inspiring young people to think high, dream big and work together for a united, harmonious and peaceful world.
In 1992, RYS, first set foot in Sri Lanka, heralding a new era of a peace mission which was embraced enthusiastically by the youth of this war-torn island nation. Despite the difficulties Sri Lanka has been continuously hosting RYS projects every year since the year 2000, and they have been held in many parts in the island to bring Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities together. A few projects have been held in the war-stricken north and eastern provinces too.
